Gathering Prayer & Assurance of Grace
Loving God, you created us for relationship—with you and with one another. In a world that often encourages us to go our own way, you call us into community, friendship, and mutual care. Gather us now in your presence. Open our hearts to your Spirit. Teach us to be patient with one another, quick to forgive, generous in love, and faithful in encouragement.

As we worship, may the peace of Christ fill our hearts and guide our lives. May our words, songs, prayers, and our actions bring glory to you.  Friends may you hear these words of assurance: God knows our shortcomings. God knows the times we have failed to love, failed to forgive, or forgotten to be present for one another. Yet in Christ we are met not with condemnation but with grace. We are forgiven, renewed, and invited once again into God’s beloved community. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and set free. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Time for the Young & Young at Heart

Hymn:        What a Friend we Have in Jesus                                 VU 664

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
    all our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
    O what peace we often forfeit,
    O what needless pain we bear,
    all because we do not carry
    everything to God in prayer.
  1. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged;
    take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Can we find a friend so faithful,
    who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
    take it to the Lord in prayer.
  1. Are we weak and heavy laden,
    cumbered with a load of care?
    Christ the Saviour is our refuge;
    take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Do our friends despise, forsake us?
    Are we tempted to despair?
    Jesus’ strength will shield our weakness,
    and we’ll find new courage there.

RESPONSE

Thanksgiving & Offering
One of the ways we show our love for God and our care for one another is through our generosity. The gifts we offer today help build a community where people are welcomed, supported, and reminded that they never walk alone. As God has generously blessed us, let us share our gifts with thankful hearts.

Offertory Song:        For the Gift of Creation                                                       VU 538

For the gift of creation, the gift of your love,
and the gift of the Spirit by which we live,
we thank you and give you the fruit of our hands.
May your grace be proclaimed by the gifts that we give.

Offertory Prayer
Generous God, we give you thanks for all the gifts we have received from your hands and through the care of others. Bless these offerings and the ministries they support. Use them to strengthen friendships, deepen compassion, bring comfort to those who are lonely, and share the good news of your love. May these gifts help build communities where the peace of Christ is known and where all people are welcomed as your beloved children. Amen.

Hymn:             Seek Ye First the Kingdom                                     VU 356

  1. Seek ye first the kingdom of God
    and God’s righteousness,
    and all these things shall be added unto you.
    Hallelu, hallelujah.
  1. Ask and it shall be given unto you;
    seek and you shall find;
    knock and the door shall be opened unto you.
    Hallelu, hallelujah.
  1. We do not live by bread alone,
    but by every word
    that proceeds from the mouth of God.
    Hallelu, hallelujah.

Prayers of the People & The Lord’s Prayer
Loving and faithful God, you have created us for community and companionship. You know how much we need one another, and you know how much we need you. Today we give thanks for friends who encourage us, family members who support us, neighbours who care for us, and church communities that help us grow in faith. We thank you for those people who remind us, in big ways and small, that we do not walk alone.

We pray for those who are lonely today. Surround them with your presence and place caring companions along their path. We pray for those who are grieving, anxious or ill. Grant them comfort, strength, and hope. We pray for families experiencing strain, for friendships that need healing, and for relationships broken by misunderstanding or hurt. Give us the humility to seek reconciliation and the courage to forgive as Christ has forgiven us.

We pray for our community here in Renfrew and throughout the Ottawa Valley. Bless those who serve others through healthcare, education, emergency services, community organizations, and volunteer ministries. Strengthen all who work for the well-being of their neighbours. We pray for your church throughout the world. Help us to embody the qualities Paul describes: compassion, kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness, and above all, love.

And where there is division, make us instruments of peace. Where there is discouragement, make us bearers of hope. Where there is loneliness, make us faithful friends. We offer these prayers and the silent prayers of our hearts in the name of Jesus Christ, who calls us friends and teaches us to pray together… Our Father…

SENDING

Hymn:            For the Faithful Who Have Answered                  VU 707

  1. For the faithful who have answered
    when they heard your call to serve,
    for the many ways you led them
    testing will and stretching nerve,
    for their work and for their witness
    as they strove against the odds,
    for their courage and obedience
    we give thanks and praise, O God.
  1. Many eyes have glimpsed the promise,
    many hearts have yearned to see.
    Many ears have heard you calling
    us to greater liberty.
    Some have fallen in the struggle,
    others still are fighting on.
    You are not ashamed to own us.
    We give you thanks and praise, O God.
  1. For this cloud of faithful witness,
    for the common life we share,
    for the work of peace and justice,
    for the gospel that we bear,
    for the vision that our homeland
    is your love – deep, high, and broad –
    for the different roads we travel
    we give thanks and praise, O God.

Sending Forth
May you clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Carry God’s love into your homes, your workplaces, your neighbourhoods, and your friendships. Remember that Christ walks with you wherever you go, and calls you to be a faithful friend to others. Go in peace to love and serve God and neighbour. Amen.

Sung Blessing           Make Me a Channel of Your Peace                       VU 684, sung twice

Make me a channel of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me bring your love;
where there is injury, your healing power,
and where there’s doubt, true faith in you.
