Welcome & Telling Our Story

Gathering to Worship God

Lighting of the Christ Candle
As we kindle this light, we remember the One who comes among us — not in power as the world defines it, but in love that gives itself away. May this flame awaken us to your presence. Amen.

Call to Worship
Hosanna! Blessed is the One who comes in the name of Love. We gather with the crowd: waving branches, lifting voices, daring to hope. Come, let us worship the One who calls us forward — beyond comfort, into life. Hosanna in the highest!

Hymn                  Tell Me the Stories of Jesus                     VU 357

  1. Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear,
    things I would ask him to tell me if he were here:
    scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea,
    stories of Jesus, tell them to me.
  1. First let me hear how the children stood round his knee,
    and I shall fancy his blessing resting on me;
    words full of kindness, deeds full of grace,
    all in the lovelight of Jesus’ face.
  1. Tell me, in accents of wonder, how rolled the sea
    tossing the boat in a tempest on Galilee!
    And how the Master, ready and kind,
    Chided the billows and hushed the wind.
  1. Into the city I’d follow the children’s band,
    waving a branch of the palm tree high in my hand;
    one of his heralds, yes, I would sing
    loudest hosannas! Jesus is King!
  1. Show me that scene in the garden of bitter pain;
    and of the cross where by Saviour for me was slain.
    Sad ones or bright ones, so that they be
    stories of Jesus, tell them to me.

Gathering Prayer & Assurance of Grace
God of the journey, you meet us on the road. In the waving of branches, in the cries of the crowd, in the quiet stirring of our hearts. You come not as we expect, but as we need — challenging, inviting, unsettling, and renewing. As we gather in this space, open us to the way of Christ: a way of humility, courage, and deep love. Help us to see your glory not only in triumph, but in vulnerability and self-giving. Shape us into a people who will follow where Jesus leads, even when the path is uncertain. We pray in the spirit of the One who enters our lives again this day, with confidence there is nothing that could ever separate us from your love.  Amen.

Time for the Young & Young at Heart

Song                    My God Is So Big

My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There’s nothing my God cannot do…
For YOU!

My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There’s nothing my God cannot do…
For YOU!

The mountains are God’s
The rivers are God’s
The stars are God’s handiwork too!

Hymn                   Hosanna, Loud Hosanna                          VU 123

  1. Hosanna, loud hosanna
    the happy children sang;
    through pillared court and temple
    the joyful anthem rang;
    to Jesus, who had blessed them
    close folded to his breast,
    the children sang their praises,
    the simplest and the best.
  1. From Olivet they followed
    ‘mid an exultant crowd,
    the victory palm branch waving,
    and singing clear and loud;
    the Lord of earth and heaven
    rode on in lowly state,
    content that little children
    should be on his bidding wait.
  1. “Hosanna in the highest!”
    That ancient song we sing,
    for Christ is our Redeemer;
    earth, let your anthems ring.
    O may we ever praise him
    with heart and life and voice,
    and in his bumble presence
    eternally rejoice!

Thanksgiving & Offering
The One we follow did not cling to power, but poured out love for the sake of the world. In this moment, we are invited to do the same: to offer from what we have, and from who we are to TSA. May our gifts—financial and personal— be signs of a different kind of kingdom: one rooted in generosity, justice, and compassion. Let us give with open hands and willing hearts.

Hymn         Come, O Fount of Every Blessing                     VU 559

Come, O Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing your grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing
call for songs of endless praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount; I’m fixed upon it,
mount of God’s unfailing love.

Prayers of the People & The Lord’s Prayer
God of all, we come to you as we are — carrying the noise of the world, and the quieter burdens of our own lives. We pray for those who feel overlooked or pushed aside — for those whose voices are not heard, and whose dignity is not honoured. May your justice rise, and your mercy be known.

We pray for those in places of conflict and unrest — where power is misused, and peace feels far away. Bring wisdom, courage, and transformation. We pray for those who are suffering — in body, mind, or spirit… Be present with them in tenderness and strength.

We pray for this community — that we might not only celebrate you with our words, but follow you with our lives. When the path becomes difficult, when faith asks more of us than we expected, give us courage to remain. And so we join our voices with generations of faith, praying together: Our Father…

Listening for God

Hymn                   Ride On! Ride On in Majesty!                  VU 127

  1. Ride on! Ride on in majesty!
    Hark! All the tribes hosanna cry;
    O Saviour meek, pursue thy road
    with palms and scattered garments strowed.
  1. Ride on! Ride on in majesty!
    In lowly pomp ride on to die;
    O Christ, thy triumphs now begin
    o’er captive death and conquered sin.
  1. Ride on! Ride on in majesty!
    The wingèd squadrons of the sky
    look down with sad and wandering eyes
    to see the approaching sacrifice.
  1. Ride on! Ride on in majesty!
    In lowly pomp ride on to die;
    bow thy meek head to mortal pain,
    then take, O God, thy power, and reign.
