Outreach

Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church has a vibrant outreach program that includes activities throughout the community and at the church. Here are descriptions of some of our programs.

United Church Women (UCW)

The UCW represents the women of the church, and their work and worship support the church's ongoing mission. The UCW is an integral part of TSA and a welcoming group to any women of the church who wish to become part of it.

The UCW is the primary leader of social activities within TSA. It currently consists of 16 members who meet on the first Tuesday of the month (September to June) at 1:00 p.m. for worship, business, and fellowship. The main fundraising occurs each fall, featuring Frozen Turkey Dinners, a Treasure Sale (last weekend of November), an Online Auction, and a Treats Sale (first weekend of December).

These funds support the church kitchen and local initiatives, including Camp Lau-Ren, Camp Golden Lake, the Renfrew Food Bank, the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation, the Bonnechere Manor and Groves Park Lodge long-term care facilities, TSA Funds, and the UCW Bursary for ministry students.

Recent projects include carpeting the Marian Roffey Room and hosting a Soup Social to benefit the Bernadette McCann House in Pembroke.

Our outreach also includes a card ministry, maintaining ties with former members, hosting Coffee Time after church, and providing light funeral luncheon services.

We warmly invite anyone interested in our mission or wishing to assist with our work to attend an upcoming meeting.

Free Community Friendship Lunch

You are invited on the Third Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m., September to June, to our community friendship lunch in Stewart Hall. Twenty volunteers from the church and community, including a men’s kitchen crew, prepare and serve meals, and welcome up to 100 guests.

Meals on Wheels

Members of the congregation deliver meals to community residents every Sunday.

Thrift Shop

Find great deals on clothing, jewelry, housewares, books, and toys — all while supporting local charities and reducing waste.

Located downstairs from the main church (accessible via the Quarry Avenue entrance), the TSA Thrift Shop has been a important community resource since 2015.

TSA Mat Group

Please join us in Stewart Hall on Wednesdays, from September through June, at 1:30 pm. Our group of volunteers weave emergency sleeping mats from milk bags, helping the environment while supporting the homeless and less fortunate in developing countries. The mats are shipped internationally to countries that have been impacted by weather or conflict.

Plant Sale

Each May, TSA hosts a plant sale in Stewart Hall, featuring perennials and annual seedlings grown and donated by members and friends of the congregation. All proceeds support Camp Lau-Ren.

Frozen Turkey Dinner Sale

Turkey dinners are prepared, frozen and sold in December.

Treasure Sale

On the last Saturday in November, organized by the UCW, a sale of the best donations that the Thrift Shop has received during the year.

Treats Sale

On the first Saturday in December a sale of baking, candy and preserves prepared by the congregation and organized by the UCW.

Online Silent Auction

A two-week event in December featuring special items donated by the congregation.

Camp Lau-Ren

Camp Lau-Ren, is a United Church camp located on the Ottawa River west of Deep River. It offers accredited camping experiences for children ages 6 to 16. TSA members assist in the yearly work week in May and fund raise for the camp – particularly with Camping Sunday and the May plant sale. Visit Camp Lau-Ren

Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB)

CFGB is a Christian charity partnering 15 Canadian churches and faith-based agencies to end global hunger.

Grain donations are sold locally and the money raised is used to purchase food near areas of need.

In 2025, CFGB helped 1.17 million people in 37 countries.

TSA holds a yearly benefit concert and has a small community garden in support of CFGB.
