Realm Communication – from May 19 Council Meeting

TSA Council met in person on Tuesday May 19, our regular monthly meeting for May. This provides an update on the meeting and activities since then.

  • Community Luncheon – held May 19 served about 80 guests and 20+ volunteers a delicious lasagna meal. Thanks to Jane for spearheading and all who organized, welcomed, cooked, served and cleaned up. Next is June 16 with stir fry and strawberry dessert. All welcome.
  • Website upgrade – upgrade of our online presence to meet the needs of staff, members, adherents, and those interested in TSA is proceeding.
  • Plant Sale – held May 23 was a great success with all proceeds ($4597.50) going to Camp Lau Ren. Thanks to all who started seedlings, split plants and helped organize and sell plants.
  • Camping Sunday – our fun camping service raised $2370 for Camp Lau Ren. Thank you everyone!!
  • Weekly Walking Group –Mondays at 2pm at the upstairs SunLife walking track at Ma-te-way is taking a break for the summer.
  • Council Team Building & Planning Meeting – was held June 1. We reviewed our three TSA goals:1. Spirituality, 2. Outreach & Partnerships, and 3. Resource ($$, people, property) Management….and what we are doing to accomplish these goals. We also discussed new things we could be doing and what we wanted to cover at our Church Hall meeting June 14.
  • Church Hall Meeting, June 14 – immediately following our worship service. Both will be in Stewart Hall. We will share what we covered at our Planning Meeting and ask for your input on:
    1. what you like best about TSA; 2. what one thing we could improve; and 3. one new idea that we might implement. Please plan to attend.
  • Worship & Music (W&M) – The next Rainbow Worship (and last until September) will be June 14 at 6: We will have a table at the Renfrew Pride Picnic on June 13 in Low Square.
  • Finance and Stewardship – Revenues are stable but expenses are increasing. Some counterfeit $50s have been received recently and Finance is dealing with. Funds are ready for the $1500 Mary Plaunt Bursary at RCI.
  • Property – Looking into getting more accessible parking.  The new doorbell camera for the back door was ordered, the software connection competed and it is up and running as of June 3. Thank you Shane and Peter!!
  • Ministry & Personnel (M&P) – Staff first aid training (first aid, CPR, AED (defibrillator) was carried out June 4.
  • Membership, Pastoral Care and Fellowship (MPCF) –Upcoming Long Term Care services: Groves Park – June 9 at 2pm; Quail Creek – June 16 at 2pm; Bonnechere Manor June 14 @2:30.
  • Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council (EOORC) – Brenda attended the EOORC-AGM May 29 & 30. Good strategic planning information and direction for Council to consider.
  • Thrift Shop – has been receiving a huge volume of donations which has overwhelmed our volunteers doing the sorting, our storage space and our volume to garbage. To help remedy this situation a limit of 2 bags per person has been established, and these are accepted only when the shop is open and Monday and Wednesday from 9 to 12.
