Opening Hymn: Great Is Thy Faithfulness VU 288
- Great is thy faithfulness, God our Creator;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou has been thou forever wilt be.
Refrain: Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed thy hand hath provided –
great is thy faithfulness, ever to me!
- Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love. Refrain
- Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow –
wondrous the portion thy blessings provide. Refrain
Call To Worship
Jesus comes calling, telling us that the time of God’s kin-dom has come near.
We want to be a part of the kin-dom.
Jesus comes calling, asking us to leave our old lives behind and live a new life with him, in God’s love.
But if we leave everything and follow Jesus, we will have nothing.
Not nothing, but everything we need.
So we will come, we will follow, we will become the disciples of Jesus.
Let us come, let us follow, let us worship the God of love.
Prayer of Approach
Inviting God, you call us to follow, to witness and to wonder. You call us to follow and risk all we know so that the change we need can finally be seen. Amen.
Hymn: Jesus Calls Us VU 562
- Jesus calls us; o’er the tumult
of our life’s wild restless sea,
day by day his clear voice sounding,
saying, “Christian, follow me.”
- Long ago apostles heard it
by the Galilean lake,
turned from home and toil and kindred,
leaving it all for Jesus’ sake.
- Jesus calls us from the worship
of the vain world’s golden store,
from each idol that would keep us,
saying “Christian, love me more.”
- In our joys and in our sorrows,
days of toil and hours of ease,
still he calls, in cares and pleasures,
“Christian, love me more than these.”
- Jesus calls us: by your mercies,
Saviour, may we hear your call,
give our hearts to your obedience,
serve and love you best of all.

Closing Hymn: I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say VU 626
- I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Come unto me and rest;
lay down, O weary one, lay down
your head upon my breast.”
I came to Jesus as I was,
weary and worn and sad;
I found in him a resting place,
and he has made me glad.
- I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Behold, I freely give
the living water; thirsty one,
stoop down, and drink, and live.”
I came to Jesus, and I drank
of that life-giving stream;
my thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
and now I live in him.
- I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“I am this dark world’s light;
look unto me, your morn shall rise,
and all your day be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found
in him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk
till travelling days are done.
