Order of Worship
Sunday, April 27th, 2025 – 2nd Sunday of Easter

We welcome David Clemis as our Guest Speaker today.

 Welcome and Announcements

Lighting the Christ Candle

We gather as people who follow the light.
Whether we wait for the sun’s rising, or light a candle in the night, or experience the light in a loved one’s heart, we seek light by which we may live.
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.”
May his light burn warmly within us and shine brightly out from us for all the world to recognize.

Call to Worship

We gather on the first day of the week to glorify Jesus and the events of the resurrection.
We give thanks for the forgiveness we have received and the hope of new life that is ours in Jesus Christ.
We are blessed to worship freely; the doors of our church are open wide to all who enter.
No doors are locked to Christ, who holds the keys to every heart.
In our worship this day, may Jesus come amongst us and gift us with his spirit and with his peace.    Taylor Croissant, Southminster U.C., Lethbridge, Alta.

Prayer of Approach

Hymn: The Day of Resurrection                       VU 164

  1. The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad;
    the passover of gladness, the passover of God!
    From death to life eternal, from earth unto the sky,
    our Christ has brought us over with hymns of victory.
  1. Our hearts be free of evil, that we may see aright
    the Christ in rays eternal of resurrection light,
    and, listening to the accents, may hear so calm and plain
    Christ’s own “All hail!” and, hearing, may raise the victor strain.
  1. Now let the heavens be joyful, let earth its song begin,
    the round world keep high triumph, and all that is therein;
    let all things seen and unseen their notes of gladness blend,
    for Christ indeed is risen, our Joy that has no end.

The Offering
Offering invitation

Doxology We Give Thee but Thine Own                            VU 543

We give thee but thine own,
what e’er the gift may be;
all that we have is thine alone,
a trust, O God, from thee.

Dedication of the Offering

Here, O God, we offer our very selves and the fruit of our labours. Bless both us and our gifts for your purpose in the world, transforming others as we are also transformed. In giving, may we also learn how to receive, in Jesus’ name. Amen.                                          Gord Dunbar, Kincardine, Ont.
