In light of the Ontario provincial lockdown news, it is with great sadness, but sure of our decision, that our TSA Council has unanimously agreed that we must CANCEL our planned in person Christmas Eve service. There will be a service on our Facebook and Youtube channels (links will be posted here on our web page)
While it would still be permissible according to the rules, Council reasoned that the wisest and safest course of action is to assume that whatever risk is requiring the lockdown on Saturday is already present on Thursday – so while we ‘could’ gather we have chosen that we ‘should’ NOT gather. To paraphrase Saint Paul, just because we can doesn’t mean it is a good idea.
It’s heartbreaking to not be together on Christmas Eve. However this is the way we must show our love for one another right now. The best gift we can give one another is physical distancing to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Starting on Sunday, December 27th, our services will be on Facebook Live at the regular time of 10am. We will only resume in person worship when instructed by the Province that it is safe to do so.
For the duration of the lockdown, our building is closed. This means that the Thrift Shop and all the activity behind the scenes to process donations will be shut down. Our Office Administrator Debbie McDermid will be working from home while the church office is closed. The mailbox and phone messages will be checked daily. We are allowed to do maintenance work in the building, so Merv and the property committee will be taking good care of the building.
Thank you for your understanding and your support.
Wishing you a safe Christmas and a hopeful new year,
Judy Ryan, Chair of TSA Council
and Rev. James Murray
